GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 9/15/25: Chilly start this morning, high pressure & easterly winds warm things up, another chance of rain for the weekend

Posted on September 15, 2025 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
After a high of around 66 yesterday, we had a front move through bringing the area just under half an inch of needed rain. All this moisture also gave us some patchy dense fog this morning and we saw a chilly overnight low of 43. After all this, today we have a ridge of high pressure building in that will dry things out and bring us a mostly clear night tonight, some light and variable winds, and a low temperature tonight a more seasonable 55 degrees.

Tomorrow the ridge continues to build and brings us some warming temperatures as much of the area is under the influence of an offshore flow except along the coast where it continues to have the somewhat cooler onshore flow. This means the temperatures will vary by location, and the east wind influence tomorrow. The beaches will likely be right around 70 degrees but as you move inland, like in Tillamook, the high climbs into the upper 70s, while the protected valley areas make it into the low 80s. The winds will be somewhat variable also, but all with an easterly wind component. The onshore flow returns tomorrow night, along with the marine layer and the patchy early morning fog. The winds become light and variable with overnight lows near 53.

We see partly to mostly sunny skies Wednesday after the clouds and fog burn off, but we do have a weak trough of low pressure moving in with a slight chance of some light patchy drizzle at the beaches early, the winds becoming northerly 8-12 gusting to 15, the highs back to a more seasonable 68 degrees. Wednesday night looks partly cloudy, still the breezy northwesterly winds until around midnight, then northerly 5-10, the low near 52.

Thursday, most of the models are suggesting fair, dry, and mild conditions for the coast thru Friday with mostly sunny days and partly cloudy nights, highs in the mid 60s Thursday, and the upper 60s Friday.

It is looking like the weekends weather will be affected by a trough of low pressure drops into the area, so Saturday we see partly sunny skies then with increasing cloudiness, add a chance of rain Saturday night into Sunday with highs near 66, lows near 53.
