As a part of my studies for nursing, microbiology was mandated, and boy, am I glad! It was fascinating! Learning how our immune system, the body’s
defense network fights against infections and disease. This system is composed of a complex network of cells, tissues, and organs like lymph nodes, bone marrow, spleen and thymus. There are a variety of specialized cells and proteins to either neutralize or destroy the invading agent. Some of the cells look like something from a sci-fi movie, armored spiked balls that bust opens the threatening agent and proteins that can infiltrate an agent to
prevent it from eating other cells in the body to stay alive. Absolutely amazing!
Unfortunately, our immune system can’t fight all diseases and pathogens.
Then came vaccines that changed many scenarios of pending death or lifelong ailments. Despite all the back-and-forth arguments for or against
vaccines the truth lies in the proof. Yes, there can be possible side effects which are miniscule in numbers in comparison to those numbers of lives
saved. Nothing is a hundred percent fail proof. It has not been proven that vaccines cause Autism. Statistics can be manipulated. There has been a rise in cesarean births for the last several decades. So has Autism. Are they related? Chemicals and pesticides in our food have been a battle many have been fighting against since their rise in use in the 1950’s. Is this the reason behind Autism? If vaccines caused Autism there would be many, many, more Autistic adults and children around the world. No proof to verify vaccines cause Autism.
Vaccines work by training the immune system to recognize and fight off specific pathogens without causing the actual disease. Smallpox was a highly contagious and deadly disease globally. This is the only disease that has been eradicated though vaccination. There lies the proof.
Diseases such as polio and measles have been significantly reduced or nearly eradicated due to vaccination. With less children being vaccinated recently, it has now risen across the United Stated. There lies the proof. The Covid 19 epidemic stretched across all countries. Prior to the Covid19 vaccine, 570,000 deaths occurred in the United States. Those in the hospital, in ICU, 44% died. A year after the vaccine roll out of the vaccine, the death toll was over 10,000 with 485 million doses administered. There in lies the proof.
