From Indivisible Waves-Central Coast:
Waldport, you did this.
In just 48 hours, incredible community engagement — 600 emails, 130+ people in the room, and coastwide solidarity — helped the City Council reach a strong, unified stand:
- Waldport now officially opposes any ICE housing or operations at the Alsi Resort.
- The City will use every legal tool available to block ICE.
- Waldport will work with state + local partners to keep our coast safe.
This happened because YOU organized.
Because communities from Waldport, Yachats, Newport, Seal Rock, South Beach, and beyond stood together and refused to be ignored.
Tonight, City Manager Dann Cutter confirmed publicly — for the first time — that an ICE contractor contacted the Alsi Resort about housing federal agents.
Your voices made sure the City responded with action, not silence.
This is what people power looks like.
This is what community protection looks like.
This is how we keep ICE off the Oregon Coast.
But the work continues:
The Alsi owner has not made a final decision, and ICE does not back down easily.
We will keep organizing, keep watching, and keep showing up — together.
Thank you, Coast.
You proved again tonight: ICE has no business in Waldport.
