We had a perfectly beautiful day for our Memorial Day weekend market, fingers crossed for more of the same this week! The sun and warmer weather have been great for pushing along pokey spring crops, and we’re happy to see River City Flower Farm back to their usual spot and Fulton Farms joining us for their first market of the season. Expect to see lots of strawberries (they’ve been soooo sweet), lots of fresh spring greens, carrots, radishes, and more.
Did you know that we have 3 different bakeries at the farmers market? Wolf Moon Bakery, right here in Nehalem, comes each week with their iconic VW mini bus. They bring incredible fresh sourdough bread, slow fermented and made with local Camas Country Mill flour. Brittney Bakes comes each week from Garibaldi with a delicious array of fresh bread and pastries with just the right level of sweetness. Bamford Bakeshop brings us a big selection of fresh, tasty pastries, including a range of gluten free treats!
This week you can enjoy our new picnic tables, purchased for the public’s use at Underhill Plaza by the City of Manzanita. These beautiful picnic tables are made right here in Nehalem using hand milled, local cedar (see them for sale at the bottom of Highway 53). Check them out while you eat your tacos and poke and listen to live music.
This week’s music is by Lauren Sheehan, “A one-woman Americana jukebox” according to the Huffington Post. Great Auntie Lo, aka Lauren Sheehan, is a multi-instrumentalist and singer specializing roots of country music; old blues, country songs, rural music, fiddle tunes, early jazz, contemporary folk and originals. Expect vintage guitars, banjo and mandolin.
