MANZANITA FARMERS MARKET WEEK #10: Halfway Point and Produce Pouring In; DOUBLE Match for SNAP

Posted on July 17, 2025 by Editor
By Carolina Lysse, Manzanita Farmers Market Manager
We are officially halfway through the market season, and summer produce is starting to pour in!  I still can’t get enough of the summer berries, but Fulton Farms has been bringing stacks of peaches and also fresh corn.  I did spy the first few tomatoes at market last week, but they go fast!  Never fear, though: this heat will speed up their ripening, and within a few weeks our farmers will be overflowing with fresh juicy tomatoes!
This week’s music is a second appearance by local band Mercury Coast.  We loved their original music, beautiful harmonies, and tight rhythm section a few weeks ago.  We’re happy to have them back!
The Hoffman Center will be joining us with some interactive kids’ activities.  We also have a special appearance by Visions Face Painting, who join us for 2 weeks each summer.  Our usual face painters, Goldea and Shirl, will be switching gears and offering fortune telling this week instead! With a bit cooler day in the forecast, it will be a lovely week to hang out at the market.

Use SNAP benefits at market! Spend $20, get $40 in matching funds to use at the market every week

For a limited time, the Manzanita Farmers Market is offering a DOUBLE match.

So spend $20 in SNAP benefits and get $40 extra to spend…every week – thanks to our market sponsors: Fulcrum Community Resources, Viridian Architecture, City of Manzanita, Cove Built, and Big Wave Cafe.

Our sponsor of the week is Viridian Architecture from Nehalem.  A big thanks goes to them for supporting the market’s triple up SNAP match!  I’ve recently had the privilege of working with Viridian on 2 affordable housing projects in our community.  They are skilled, responsive, and fun to work with.  Jim Fanjoy, Viridian’s founder, was a long time vendor who continues to keep bees and was on the board of the farmers market for 10 years.  He says he sponsors the market because he loves the market and loves designing buildings in his community.  The market helps make that community better, more prosperous, and more resilient.

Increase your visibility and support a beloved community institution: become a market sponsor! Sponsors have their logo displayed every week at the market and also on our website. Sponsors giving at least $250 will be featured in a social media post and at least once as a “sponsor of the week”. Sponsorship money will be used to increase SNAP match funds and support the market’s operating budget. Sign up here – https://www.manzanitafarmersmarket.com/sponsors

See you at market, Friday 4-7, 635 Manzanita Ave behind the new city hall!
