Multiple Agencies Respond to 5th St. Apartments Fire on Saturday August 23; No Injuries & Fire Contained

Posted on August 26, 2025 by Editor
Tillamook, OR – On Saturday, August 23, 2025, Tillamook Fire District and Bay City Fire Department responded to a structure fire at an apartment complex on 5th Street in Tillamook.
First arriving units reported heavy smoke and flames coming from multiple units in the apartment building. Fire crews immediately initiated fire attack operations and coordinated evacuation of residents. The fire quickly escalated to a multi-agency response due to the size of the structure and its proximity to neighboring businesses.
Responding agencies included:
Tillamook Fire District, Bay City Fire Department, Rockaway Beach Fire Department, Tillamook Ambulance, Tillamook Police Department, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook Public Works, Tillamook 911, Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, Tillamook PUD, and Red Cross

Through coordinated efforts, firefighters were able to contain the blaze and prevent further spread. However, the Werner Beef n Brew building adjacent to the apartment complex sustained fire and smoke damage during the incident.
This fire occurred on a day when multiple emergency calls were received throughout the county, stretching available resources. Despite these challenges, thanks to the dedication and professionalism of all responding agencies — including both paid staff and volunteers — every call for assistance was answered without delay.
Emergency medical personnel were on scene to provide care, and law enforcement assisted with traffic control and scene security. Tillamook Public Works provided support with utilities and safety measures, while the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office is assisting with the cause and origin investigation.
At this time, no injuries or fatalities have been reported. Several residents were displaced, and local agencies are coordinating with community partners to provide temporary assistance.
“This incident highlights the strength of our regional emergency response system,” said Alan Christensen, Operations Chief of the Tillamook Fire District.
“We are grateful for the quick actions of all responding agencies and the community’s support as we work through the aftermath of this fire.”
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.
