Boyd, Nelson, Boisa, and Sanders Earn Endorsement from Retired Educators

We are pleased to announce that four candidates running for election to the Nestucca Valley School District Board of Education have been endorsed by TREAT. Meet the candidates!

NVSD Position 1: Joseph Boyd

Joseph Boyd currently serves on the NVSD school board, beginning his term in June, 2022. He brings important organizational skills to the board from his 18+ years as a business owner, as well as strong communication skills from his current employment as a Corrections Deputy for Tillamook County. Joseph has two children in Nestucca schools and is committed to serving all the children in the district. During his time serving on the board, he has played an important role in supporting the positive direction the district has taken in the past several years and looks forward to helping advance this positive momentum moving forward. For these reasons and for his dedication to his community, we strongly endorse Joseph Boyd for Position 1 on the NVSD school board.

NVSD Position 2: Wally Nelson

Wally Nelson joined the Nestucca Valley School District in 1959, teaching biology and math at the high school for 38 years. Since retirement in 1997, Wally has used his well-developed administrative skills serving frequently as substitute principal in the district. His highest priorities are the continued positive success of the district, support of its teachers and staff, and, most importantly, the safety and academic achievement of all students. Wally believes students deserve a stimulating and rewarding school experience that prepares them to be productive and informed citizens. For all these reasons, we strongly endorse Wally Nelson for Position 2 on the NVSD school board.

NVSD Position 3: Diane Boisa

Diane Boisa’s life-long dedication to children’s education includes a BA in Education and teaching at the K-8 level. She has served as an NVSD school board member for many years, contributing in vital ways to the positive momentum the district is currently experiencing (new K-8 school, CTE building and programs, proposed community healthcare facility, and proposed sheriff substation). Diane’s children, grandchildren, and now great grandchildren have attended NVSD schools. As a long-time parent, volunteer, and board member, she understands the needs of students, teachers, staff, parents, and the community. For all these reasons and for her commitment to student well-being and enhanced learning opportunities, we strongly endorse Diane Boisa for Position 3 on the NVSD school board.

NVSD Position 4: Russ Sanders

Russ Sanders has 39 years of experience as a teacher and school administrator, including as a K-12 Special Ed teacher in the Nestucca Valley School District. His two children graduated from Nestucca High School. Russ promises to build on the many successes in the district in the past several years. He believes in the importance of student learning in science, technology, engineering, art, and math, and the development of critical thinking skills. Paramount for Russ is ensuring a safe, healthy learning environment and contributing to the district’s mission of prioritizing student success in school and beyond. We strongly endorse Russ for Position 4 on the NVSD school board.
