New Artistic Haven Blooms in Rockaway Beach: Blue Water Fine Art Gallery Opens Friday

By Deb Weissenfluh
Rockaway Beach is set to welcome a vibrant new addition to its cultural landscape this Friday, June 27th, with the grand opening of Blue Water Fine Art Gallery. This eagerly anticipated space is the brainchild of Debra and Geoff Grace, long-time visitors and now dedicated residents of Rockaway Beach, who are ready to share their passion for art with the community and showcase the rich artistic talent of the Oregon Coast.

Debra and Geoff Grace first fell in love with Rockaway Beach during their many vacations, eventually making it their home in 2008. Geoff has dedicated over 14 years of distinguished service to the Rockaway Beach Fire Department, where he currently serves with pride as both Captain and an EMT (Emergency Medical Technician). Debra recently retired in 2024 from her impactful work at the Tillamook Estuaries Partnership, a local non-profit organization. However, retirement proved to be a short-lived affair for Debra, who quickly decided to pursue her lifelong dream of opening an art gallery.

Blue Water Fine Art Gallery will be a testament to Debra’s dedication to her own mixed media art, a passion she has pursued her entire life. Beyond her personal creations, the gallery is committed to featuring a thoughtfully curated collection of work from other regional artists, providing a much-needed platform for local talent. Geoff, too, will contribute his artistic flair, showcasing his digital art and resin creations.

The couple’s shared vision is the driving force behind this new venture. Their mission statement for Blue Water Fine Art Gallery articulates this perfectly: “At Blue Water Fine Art Gallery, we are dedicated to showcasing exceptional artwork from both emerging and established artists. Our mission is to create a vibrant space that fosters appreciation for the arts and supports the creative community that captures the beauty and spirit of the Oregon Coast.”

When not immersed in their artistic endeavors, Debra and Geoff enjoy the thrill of Ducks Football, cherish time with their beloved dog family, and embrace their love for travel. This well-rounded approach to life undoubtedly informs the warmth and accessibility they bring to their new gallery.

The opening of Blue Water Fine Art Gallery promises to be a significant event for Rockaway Beach, offering residents and visitors alike a new opportunity to experience and connect with the thriving artistic spirit of the Oregon Coast. Be sure to stop by this Friday, June 27th from Noon to 6pm – ribbon-cutting with Mayor Charles McNeilly, and celebrate the realization of a lifelong dream.
