OBITUARY: Sherryl Klingelhofer – May 15, 1953 – February 25, 2026

Posted on February 28, 2026 by Editor

Lifelong Tillamook resident Sherryl Lee Klingelhofer passed away February 25, 2026 surrounded by her loving family. She fought a strong battle against cancer using what she called “The Sherryl Method”.
Sherryl was born May 15, 1953 to Alfred (Al) and Miriam (Corll) Goertzen in Tillamook and graduated from Tillamook High School in 1971. Al was a teacher, coach and athletic director there and instilled in her the importance of lifelong physical fitness.
Everyday she trained with complex movement and high intensity workouts. Many mornings you could find her at the high school track or 9th street park and afternoons in her indoor pool spa for water aerobics.
She was married to Rick Hogeland, Ray Jacobs and current husband Randy Klingelhofer for 24 years. She was an avid gardener and loved to play in the dirt. She spent time in city government, collected and sold antiques at her Crazy Lady Antiques shop and was a generous soul in helping others in their time of need. She was a free spirit and could be a bit on the quirky side which brought out her fun-loving self.
The YMCA played a major part in her life as lifeguard, group fitness instructor and a Certified Master Fitness Trainer, including Tai Chi, Qigong and in the end Cognition, Coordination and Control which she was determined to teach while fighting her disease.
Sherryl was deeply affected by Parkinson’s disease, caring for her father. She and her father were on the forefront of the “exercise is medicine” approach now common with Parkinson’s disease. She became a dedicated advocate and expert in Parkinson’s disease treatment, serving as founder and president of Parkinson’s Si Buko Uganda/USA, providing much needed support and education to those in need. On July 1, 2024 she was included in Marquis Who’s Who for her noteworthy accomplishments, visibility and prominence in Parkinson’s disease awareness and treatment.
Survivors include her husband Randy, stepson Ryan (Amanda)-Fossil, OR, stepdaughter Kristi Oleman-Tillamook, grandson Kayne Oleman-Tillamook,
granddaughters Kailyn Oleman-Salem, OR, Lyla Beth Gant-Wall, NJ, sister-in-law Judy Klingelhofer-Tillamook, Kyla Webb, Amber Porter and many others who dearly loved her.
In lieu of a service, a donation in Sherryl’s name can be made to the Tillamook Family YMCA or to her Parkinson’s Si Buko Uganda/USA nonprofit organization at https://parkinsonssibuko.org.
