OREGON DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION (ODOT) ROAD WORK ALERT: Full Closure – May 2nd – Miami Foley Road Bridge Replacement Project –

Posted on May 1, 2025 by Editor
www.tillamookcountypioneer.net

Plan ahead for upcoming closures – Full closure at Dry Creek on May 2

You may have seen our crews preparing for work to start on Miami Foley Road. We’re replacing the Crystal Creek temporary bridge and the Dry Creek culvert with two new permanent bridges.

Usually, we keep a road closed for the duration of a project when we’re building a new bridge – but we’re doing this project a little different!

We’re building each bridge one lane at a time to reduce traffic impacts. This means you’ll be able to get through the work zone on a single lane most of the time during construction work.

There will only be four times when you’ll need to detour using U.S. 101 – twice for Dry Creek and twice for Crystal Creek – while we bring in the necessary equipment and supplies.

  • Miami Foley Road to close on both sides of Dry Creek from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Crews working during the day.
  • Delays.
  • Construction noise.
  • To detour around the closure using U.S. 101.

We plan to reopen a single lane of Miami Foley Road by 5 p.m. the same day, May 2.

What to expect after May 2

Once we have our equipment in the area, we’ll start building the bridges one lane at a time. You can expect:

  • Crews working during the day.
  • A single lane open with a temporary traffic signal helping guide traffic.
  • Construction noise and delays.

Future daytime closures

We don’t have the dates for the next closure at Dry Creek or the two closures at Crystal Creek but we’ll share more information as soon as we have it.

Remember that fines double in all Oregon work zones, whether workers and signs are present or not.

About Bridge Funding and Replacement

Our funding to maintain, preserve and replace bridges is limited by the structural revenue issue our agency faces. At the rate we’re currently replacing bridges, it would take us almost 900 years to replace all of the bridges on the state highway network.

We will not allow Oregonians to travel on unsafe bridges, but as bridges age it will steadily cost more to maintain them. Over time these bridges will face weight restrictions and eventual closure without timely replacement.
