Getting the right person for the right job is always desirable and needed . But, how do you align the two? Intelligently and hopefully.
Amanda Ferrat, Brandon Affolter, and Jordan Wolfe have the necessary skills and experiences to not only flourish as school board members, but make students more rounded, educated, and ready for the world.
Here are their qualities:
Amanda Ferrat is not only a mental health practitioner who teaches “value yourself counseling” to her clients, but has been nominated as “Citizen of the Year” in Tillamook, and is an interim school board member. Her experience with suicide prevention and anti-bullying strategies would be welcomed: Students are in crisis for many of reasons, especially the special students from Wilson River School. She can help them fit in.
Brandon Affolter has done life long service here, plus he’s a family man with children in the Tillamook school system. Brandon also has had direct experience with private schools and special education practices. As a retired special educator, I feel that it is important for the school board to have a member with this experience.
Jordan Wolfe strikes me as being an academic “renaissance man”. He’s a substitute teacher, and he’s young. His family has been in Tillamook County for 5 generations. Stories and local histories abound; he knows who and how Tillamook works. His writing, reporting, and editing skills at the Headlight Herald can be shared throughout the District. The ability to communicate effectively is essential for a well-functioning school board.
The above candidates can enrich and supplement the Tillamook school district in educating ALL its students.
TSD 9 needs the above three candidates as school board members.
Thank you,
Paul Ferris
