Just after noon on January 11, 2026, the Tillamook City Police Department responded to a structure fire at the Trask River Apartments located at 1007 5th Street in Tillamook, in coordination with the Tillamook Fire District. During emergency operations, first responders located one deceased individual. The identity of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The incident remains under investigation.
There is no known danger to the public, and investigators do not believe this incident to be criminal in nature. The investigation remains ongoing in coordination with partner agencies.
As a result of the fire and associated damage, twelve residents were displaced and required emergency housing assistance. The American Red Cross responded and is providing emergency housing and support services to those affected.
The Tillamook City Police Department was assisted by multiple partner agencies, including the Tillamook Fire District, Tillamook City Public Works, Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, Tillamook People’s Utility District, the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office, Bay City Fire Department, Adventist Health Ambulance Service, the Tillamook County District Attorney’s Office, and the American Red Cross. The coordinated response ensured scene safety, resident evacuation, and follow-up support.
