THE OCEANSIDER: Current Cafe Announces Grand Re-Opening Jan. 27th

Posted on January 21, 2024 by Editor
By Jerry Keene, Editor, The Oceansider
The owners of the Current Cafe on Pacific Avenue have alerted The Oceansider that they will hold a Grand Opening (or Reopening) event this Saturday, January 27, from 8 am to 2 pm. Corey Shields, Tyler McComas and their colleagues have been hard at work preparing the space for a renewal of their operation serving beverages (including espresso drinks), pastries and meals. The Cafe is also currently open on a limited basis as the owners train new staff and work out kinks in their operation.
Working Group Invites Designs for a New
Oceanside Greeting Sign
Longtime Oceansider Kris Woolpert is heading a working group to develop a design for new greeting signs to be placed at the north and south entries to Oceanside. They will replace the plain green ODOT “Oceanside” sign on Highway 101. The signs will be funded and produced by the Tillamook Coast Visitors Association, which has sponsored such signs for Tillamook and other county communities.

The group is inviting local artists, designers and others to submit designs for a color or black-and-white logo that is “an artistic representation of Oceanside.”  They should be presented on a simple 8 1/2” x 11” sheet in a rectangular or oval format and include the word “OCEANSIDE.”  The design should also be clearly visible to drivers passing by.  Local artists/designers or others may mail, email or hand-deliver submissions to Kris Woolpert, who can be contacted at kriswoolpert@gmail.com. The submission deadline is February 2, 2024.

Woolpert indicated that all designs will be presented to the Oceanside community in a selection process, the details of which are being worked out. Once selected, the TCVA will prepare a design for final approval and then build and install the signs at the designated boundaries of the Oceanside urban growth boundaries. Questions may be submitted to Kris Woolpert at the email address above.
