“It came down to the last minute, but we got it done,” said Current Cafe owner Tyler McComas in an interview with The Oceansider late Sunday afternoon. McComas called to provide the community a long-awaited report on the future of the Cafe upon completion of negotiations for a transfer of the business and its assets to the Three Arch Inn. The transfer was prompted by McComas’ planned departure from Oregon to manage pressing family issues elsewhere. The Three Arch Inn has been listed for sale since July 2025 but will now be taken off of the market according to owner Duane Bauley.
McComas said he understands that the Cafe will continue under the same name and offer the same menu 7 days a week once it resumes food service on Tuesday or Wednesday (November 18-19). In the meantime, beverage service will continue without interruption. McComas also indicated that the Cafe’s employees have been training to continue day-to-day operations for Bauley, who primarily resides out-of-state.
“I want to thank the community for its support, love and kindness – especially the kindness- over the years,” continued McComas. He said he was “happy” to have been part of creating a space that made it possible for “old timers” to gather and stay connected, and also for them to meet and “help out ” new arrivals to Oceanside. He added that he felt that Bauley, the new owner, appreciates the important role the Cafe plays in the community and intends to continue it.
