
The Kayes previously founded and operated “Kayo’s Ramen Bar” in NE Portland, where they were named in several Portland “best restaurant” lists. After selling that successful business, they traveled extensively before settling in Netarts, where their son also has a home. “We’re excited to become members of the Oceanside community and to introduce our food,” they shared, and look forward to meeting members of the community after they return from a trip to Japan next month.

Most Zoning Proposals Voted Down at ONA Special Meeting

These results will be taken into account when county Community Development Director Sarah Absher submits proposed amendments to Oceanside’s zoning ordinances at county Planning Commission hearings anticipated over the summer. Based on the ONA votes, it is likely that her proposals will track the “Model Code” provisions issued by state officials as guidance for implementing the “middle housing” legislation (Senate Bill 406) enacted several years ago. They will also include the exterior lighting, revised building height formula and building height reductions approved by the ONA membership in 2021 although Director Absher will also share legal concerns about some or all of them as expressed by county legal advisors.
