By the Oceansider – Vol. III, Issue No. 26 (July 30, 2025)
Within a few weeks after securing county approval for an additional hotel unit to bolster its rental income, the owner of Three Arch Inn has unexpectedly announced his intent to sell the property. (Click here to review the listing for $2.25 million.) The move was a surprise to the community group and neighbors who had spent months negotiating agreements with its owner (Duane Bauley) to address parking issues behind the Inn as a condition for supporting his bid for an additional room. (See Three Arch Inn Owner Seeks to Mend Community Relations.)
In an email to The Oceansider the day before the listing, Bauley explained that a number of events had combined to prompt his decision, including personal issues, the retirement of his longtime hotel manager and the decision by the owner of Currents Cafe (Tyler McComas) to leave Oceanside later this year. He also emphasized, “I definitely plan on keeping my word as to our contract [regarding parking measures] and following through with everything,” Finally, if the Inn does not sell, Bauley indicated his “Plan B” is to remain in operation and assist Currents Cafe (which leases the ground floor) with its transition to new management.
For his part, cafe owner McComas confirmed his plans to leave Oceanside (and Oregon) sometime late this fall to manage some emergent family developments. He indicated that news of the listing took him by surprise, and that he had first heard about it from third parties. According to realtor Dusty Trost (who is handling the listing), the Currents Cafe’s lease with the Inn expires in October. All parties indicated they did not know what would happen with the cafe after that, with much depending what a new buyer might intend.
