This is one of the biggest events in Tillamook Air Museum history — and you’re invited to witness it LIVE!
The combat-tested AV-8B Harrier II is scheduled to fly into Tillamook on Monday, August 4th between 3:30–4:30 PM — arriving under its own power from China Lake, California.
This is more than a landing — it’s a full flight demonstration!
- High-speed flyby
- Short landing & takeoff
- Hover and turn maneuvers
- Final landing and taxi to the museum
Just before the Harrier, a U.S. Air Force C-17 Globemaster III will land with the specialized team preparing the aircraft for display.
After landing, the Harrier will taxi to the north end of Hangar B, near the Museum’s Mini-Guppy, sitting outside the Museum. A few safety components will be removed, and then…
The public will be invited to approach the aircraft, meet the crew, and take photos during a 30-minute window before it’s moved indoors for exhibit preparation.
Here is a MAP of the best public viewing spots:
- Gravel turnout at Long Prairie Rd & Hwy 101
- “Mooring circle” near UPS
- Airfield viewing via Cemetery Road Access — visitors may park near the Museum’s large cargo aircraft (the Mini-Guppy) and walk on foot up the Cemetery Road access for a view of the airfield
Please note: The Museum will close early at 3:00 PM on Monday, August 4th so staff can focus on supporting the safe arrival and transition of this remarkable aircraft into our collection and our community.
Arrival time and activities are weather and mission dependent and subject to change.
This is truly a once-in-a-generation event — don’t miss your chance to be part of it!
