Oceanside, Oregon — The Short Beach stairs project is complete!
What used to be a hazardous slope is now a safe, accessible, and beautifully rebuilt stairway — with a new handrail, retaining wall, and benches overlooking the Pacific.
This incredible achievement came through partnership and perseverance. Together, Trailkeepers of Oregon, Oceanside Action Partnership, Tillamook County Public Works, Netarts WEBS, Oregon Parks and Recreation Department, Tillamook Coast Visitors Association, and the Netarts–Oceanside Fire District made it happen.
Over 1,700 volunteer hours were logged by more than 100 people — nearly half local community members, half TKO volunteers — all working side by side to make the trail safe again.
“We finished the stairs — 121 in all. It’s been an immense effort, but the results are worth it.” — Crew Leader Tom Brauner
A huge thank-you to every volunteer, partner, and agency that helped bring this coastal treasure back to life. Together, we’re proving what’s possible when Oregon communities come together to care for the places we love.
Keep an eye out for Trailkeepers of Oregon’s Legacy Builders fundraiser, launching November 1, where we’ll celebrate and fund more projects like this one — from the Coast to the Cascades.
