Under the current administration we’ve become used to expecting the worst. Every day the news bombards us with terrible stories about ICE, DOJ, statements from the White House, endless litigation and seeing our democracy and rights dissolve. It’s overwhelming and taxes our emotions. Just when we think “ok….it can’t get much worse” IT DOES!
When ICE started hunting people of color whether they were documented or not we were stunned and shocked. These people were ripped from their communities and families and often deported to countries that are not their homelands. In some cases American citizens were detained and deported. Then ICE murdered two American citizens simply for exercising their right to freedom of speech and right to peacefully protest. We were horrified.
The numerous tactics, cover ups and proclamations intended to deflect attention from the Epstein Files have shielded known pedophiles and crimes committed against young girls. These crimes have been ignored and lied about so much that I feel the cult supporters don’t see them as issues.
Then along comes Pam Bondi and Kristi Noem, two highly unqualified cabinet members, whose loyalty to the “regime” have obliterated their moral conscience. They have overseen and commanded their “underlings” to follow orders no matter what, acted like they are above the law and have openly lied about the government’s actions. When Noem stood before cameras and outright lied about the actions of ICE officers in Minneapolis, we couldn’t believe it! We all saw the videos!. When Bondi dogged questions and ignored victims who were in the same room it was a huge and inexcusable insult to those women.
Now we have to be concerned that our right to vote will be taken away. The threat of nationalizing elections cuts into the constitution and what our country was founded for. Can this really be happening? YES. It is happening.
I take heart in knowing that the efforts of resistance groups and lawsuits against the current administration are starting to crack the armor. We’re starting to make progress. So keep flying your anit-fascist flags. Keep showing up to rallies with your signs. Call elected officials, distribute signs and most of all stand up for the victims.
