Come join Tillamook High School Key Club for their annual Out of Darkness Walk! It’s on Saturday, March 25th @ 6:00 am at Oceanside Beach. We walk from the Oceanside parking lot to Happy Camp and then as the sun is rising we walk into the light. This walk is done to raise awareness for mental health, and signifies coming out of the dark and into the light. Please dress warmly, bring a flashlight and a buddy. Friendly dogs are welcome and encouraged! Warm drinks and muffins will be provided and donations are appreciated! Key Club is a community service based club at the high school.
Save Lives and Bring Hope
Out of the Darkness Walks take place in cities nationwide to raise awareness about resources available for mental health and for those affected by suicide – and those who support them – strongly sending the message that suicide is preventable, and that no one is alone.
The Community Walks, held in hundreds of cities across the country, are the core of the Out of the Darkness movement, which began in 2004. These events give people the courage to open up about their own connections to the cause, and a platform to create a culture that’s smarter about mental health. Friends, family members, neighbors and coworkers walk side-by-side, supporting each other and in memory of those we’ve lost.
Now, more than ever, it’s important to be there for one another and take steps to safeguard our mental health and prevent suicide.
