PAGE 6: Tech Storm Nightmare

Posted on March 27, 2023 by Editor

By Robin Swain

What is a Tech Storm, you ask? Well, that would be when Mother Nature and the Universe collaborate to mess with our gadgets of connection for the mere pleasure of driving us insane with frustration.

Torrential rain, high winds, flooding, trees down, power outages with snow being the icing on the cake just was not enough. Nope, according to the Universe, Mother Nature needed to step up her game. With a wicked grin, she looked at the Universe and said, “Here, hold my beer.”

Mother Nature stepped it up alright…she timed power outages to coincide with conversion upgrades, PC system updates, black screening many of us. She tormented us with rolling internet and no internet, making us drive all over to “find a signal.” For those of us that make a living via the internet, it was a nightmare redefined.

For me, what was, and still is nerve-wracking, as the stories and photos stay locked away in my laptop. Having to have someone get my laptop back on then the lengthy process of retrieving everything. This last week has been about going through those files, trying to figure out how to re-write them in a manner that is current. My photos are no longer in albums and are out of date sync, so there is a whole lot of scrolling.

When you start seeing stories that happened in January and February, give a little yippie for me, that what was lost has been found. So here is to catching up and moving forward! Perhaps I should start my own little “Page 6” column giving the highlights of what’s happening, or did happen, or might happen. Or oh heck, I could just start making things up! 😉
