GORDON’S UPDATE: Weather 5/2/23

Posted on May 2, 2023 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer
Tuesday, May 2, 2023

The low pressure area continues to rotate down near the northern California coast which is pumping clouds over the region, and the flow is also pushing up some slightly warmer temperatures. So tonight, we see mostly cloudy skies with the winds diminishing, lows near 45.

Tomorrow, we start out partly sunny and dry with winds becoming westerly 4-8, the high near 58. Tomorrow night we have a disturbance caught in the flow around the low that will rotate up into our area, and bring a chance of showers later tonight, winds westerly 5-10, the low near 47.

We see another disturbance rotating up into the area Thursday that gives us a better chance of showers with westerly winds 4-8, the high near 56, the winds becoming more southwesterly Thursday night, still the chance of showers, lows near 46.

Friday on through the weekend the weather is influenced by yet another low pressure area that develops up in the Gulf of Alaska area that will be dropping down towards our coast. This means we can expect the mostly cloudy skies to continue with a chance of showers Friday but an even better chance of showers Saturday and Sunday as several weak fronts sweep across the area. Highs during this period in the mid 50s, lows in the low 40s.

The start of next week doesn’t look much better as the low continues its track to the southeast, off the coast of Oregon, towards northern California. This means we likely see the chance of showers with cooler temperatures remaining through the middle of next week.
