From Dan Goody, District Forester, Oregon Department of Forestry, Astoria District
After reviewing the 10 day fire weather forecast with several landowners, cooperators, and partners, the Northwest Protective Association Districts are going to move to IFPL 2 in NW-02 and NW-03 effective Monday (July 14th) morning at 12:01 am. We will also be moving to a High Fire Danger in NW-02 and NW-03, also effective on Monday at 12:01 am.
Thank you all for your diligence so far in helping to prevent fires in the District. The statewide picture is starting to come into focus with numerous fires in Southwest Oregon and Klamath and lightning hitting eastern Oregon as I type. Ten engines, multiple overhead have been dispatched from the Northwest Oregon Area. Additionally, ODF IMT 3 has been called upon to manage the Grizzly Complex in the Medford area and ODF IMT 1 has been deployed to the Elk Fire near the town of Bonanza.
