GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 9/22/25: Taste of Fall on Sunday, which officially starts today, now fair skies with warmer temperatures, another chance of rain for the weekend

Hello Tillamook. We had an early taste of fall yesterday with a front that moved though giving us a decent shot of rain with many areas getting around ½”. Now today is the official first day of fall, and we have a high pressure ridge building in that will bring fair, dry and warming conditions to the region over the next few days. After a nice sunny and mild day today, we can expect a mostly clear night, with calm winds, the overnight low temperature near 50.

The ridge continues to build tomorrow, so with sunny skies we see northerly winds 4-8, the high temperature climbing up to near 75 degrees, then another mostly clear night with light northerly winds, the low drops to near 53.

The ridge flattens some on Wednesday so with sunny skies still, the afternoon temperatures cool a little, climbing to near 71, then with a mostly clear night, the overnight low drops to around 49.

Thursday, a low pressure trough dropping down from the north flattens the ridge even more and starts to push the ridge eastward some, so while we continue to see sunny skies, the high temperature only makes it to near 64. Then we start seeing some clouds moving in ahead of that trough, the low temperatures near 48.

The models start to get mixed Friday, on which weather pattern will win over the weekend. If the trough is able to push the ridge out, then we see some precipitation and cooler temperatures. If the ridge keeps the trough offshore, then we may see little to no rain with warmer temperatures. So, having said all that, it is looking like we have a mix of sun and clouds Friday on through the weekend, with a slight chance of rain that could increase later this weekend, afternoon high temperatures in the mid 60s and overnight lows down near 50.

A quick look at the expected conditions towards the end of the month, through the start of next month, from the Climate Prediction Center, from their forecast that was issued yesterday (9/21/25), shows an above average probability of precipitation, with a slightly above average chance of higher temperatures for the period of September 29th through October 5th.

And that’s it for this week folks, so here’s hoping you all have a great week, and I’ll see ya again next Monday.
