Did you ever have an idea that spiraled faster than you thought it would?
About a week ago at Rotary we were noticing that programs give food at Christmas, but seem more limited at Thanksgiving.
In a nutshell, we decided to offer some dinners for people, and it sounded so great.
Grocery Outlet was there and gave us INCREDIBLE pricing. (Each box costs $50 and has turkey dinner and trimmings for 5-6 people)
Steve from the YMCA was there and they wanted to be a part of this.
So flash forward to today and we have fully funded 67 dinners for people on our community!
The only problem? We currently have 96 families identified as needing help.
So if you have the means, and feel onclined, consider sponsoring a dinner for $50.
If you know a family that may need a hand right now, get them to call the Y and be put on the list.
Or if you simply want to roll up your sleeves and help, we will be putting these boxes together on the afternoon of Monday November 24th at the YMCA.
Many hands make light work.
Feeding our community …
In an effort to lighten the load for our neighbors this holiday season, the Tillamook YMCA is proud to partner with our local Tillamook Grocery Outlet and Tillamook Rotary Club to offer boxed dinners to anyone in need of a Thanksgiving dinner.
Keeping those in mind that have been impacted by the govt. shutdown (delayed SNAP benefits, unpaid federal workers, etc.) and anyone struggling to make ends meet, the DINNER BOXES will feature all the fixings to cook a holiday dinner at home.
RESERVATIONS will be required to received a box (this will help control ordering the appropriate amount of product.) Please CALL THE Y to be placed on the list for boxed dinner pick-up.
Boxes will be DISTRIBUTED at the Y on MONDAY, November 24th. from 3:00pm to 6:00pm.
To SPONSOR a dinner box, VOLUNTEER for box assembly/distribution, or have general questions, please contact Emily: info@tillamookymca.org or 503-842-9622 x 104.
