TILLAMOOK COUNTY TRANSPORATION DISTRICT: THE WAVE ANNOUNCES MORE ROUTES, MORE SERVICE STARTING SUNDAY JANUARY 18

Posted on January 15, 2026 by Editor

Tillamook County Transportation District would like to share the great news that the District will be enhancing transit service to our communities starting this Sunday, January 18, 2026. Provided below are the details of what that will look like for our customers and communities. This is what we have been working toward for the past year and a half! Over the previous nine to twelve months, we have been able to attract, hire, and train numerous quality drivers, and we continue to do so. This has left us in a great position to reinstate seven day a week transit service on our entire system and add back discontinued trips that were suspended in spring 2024 due to a driver shortage. The year ahead includes several exciting transit service improvements that will help us better meet the needs of our communities. Please see below for details.

Planned enhancements include service adjustments to improve reliability, the reinstatement of seven day a week service and formerly discontinued trips, and ongoing investments in new vehicles, infrastructure, and customer experience. These improvements will positively impact our community and will highlight our commitment to meeting our vision, mission, and values. Near-term improvements slated for the January 18 shift bid include:

  • Reinstatement of seven day a week transit service
  • Added Dial-A-Ride capacity
  • Direct Route 3 service to the new Nehalem Bay Health Center in Wheeler
  • Reinstatement of the 4:55 AM Route 5 trip to Portland (transfer to TriMet’s Red Line at Sunset Transit Center in Beaverton for car-free travel to PDX)
  • 40% more trips on Route 2 (Netarts-Oceanside) and Route 6 (Port of Tillamook Bay)
  • Overall 25%+ service hours increase!

We feel confident that these improvements will allow us to reliably and sustainably meet the needs of our customers. I am proud of our entire team that has worked incredibly hard to get us to this point. I look forward to working together in the year ahead as we continue to move our system—and our communities—forward.
