GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 4/6/26: More nice days this week, some rain may return for weekend

Posted on April 6, 2026 by Editor

By Gordon McCraw, Meteorologist for the Tillamook County Pioneer

Well, that was certainly a nice weekend with sunny skies and relatively light winds thanks to a strong high pressure ridge over the area. The high temperature on Saturday was around 66, but yesterday it got up to 70 in a few spots. Now today we again enjoyed a mostly sunny day after some patchy fog clears, then tonight we have a weak and dry cold front move in that does little except bring us some cloudiness, with light northwesterly winds, the low is around 40.

Tomorrow the front has passed off to the southeast, and we are left with sunny skies again, but cooler, with northerly winds 4-8, the high only near 57. A partly cloudy night expected for tomorrow with calm winds, the temperature drops to near 36 in the early morning hours, which will happen to be around the dew point temperature. This spells some patchy fog possible in the early morning hours until a little after sunrise Wednesday, with some patchy frost also possible.

Speaking of Wednesday, it looks like it will be another sunny day after any patchy fog and frost clears, the high temperature back up near 59, then a mostly clear night, the low down around 39.

Thursday and Friday we likely see another weak ridge moving across the area, bringing us mostly sunny skies, with the high creeping back up to around 62, then mostly clear skies expected for Thursday night, the low near 41.

The models get mixed for the weekend, some say a weak trough of low pressure moves in and brings us mostly cloudy skies with a chance of light rain for Saturday and Sunday, the other half of the models say the trough will be stronger, which would mean more clouds, with a better chance of rain or rainshowers across the area. Either way I don’t think the rainfall totals will be that much. High temperature over the weekend in the mid 50s and nighttime lows in the low 40s.
