A couple of weather systems over the weekend have caused cooler temperatures, and a little rain the last few days, and it looks like we aren’t quite done just yet. As we head into the last few days in June, I see that June 14th was our warmest day, hitting 93 degrees that Sunday. The coldest was back on June 1st when we dropped to 37 degrees that night. So far, for the month, we have seen around 3.56” of rain with the average for June being 3.58”, so we just might hit the average before the end of the month, though the rest of the state is not looking so lucky with 21 Oregon counties declaring Drought Emergencies, and there are about 27 wildfires being reported.
Lastly, before we get into the weather forecast, I have seen some reporting about all the recent earthquakes, including some off the coast of Oregon. To ease your concerns, no, they are NOT a sign of a global apocalypse or a precursor to, The Big One! The fact of the matter is, we have better technology now, to know about the quakes as they occur anywhere in the world, and more rapid reporting of these events through the news and on social media. Know that these are just natural fluctuations in activity, but it is a GREAT reminder to us that being prepared and having a disaster plan is a really good idea.
So, now let’s talk about the forecast, though not much is changing.
Another disturbance moving across, to the north today, Tuesday, will give us continued mostly cloudy skies along with a slight chance of showers later in the afternoon, the wind becoming westerly 8-12, tomorrow’s high near 60, the shower chance diminished by around midnight tomorrow, some patchy morning fog returns after the winds ease, lows near 51.
We stay mostly cloudy but dry Wednesday and Thursday, and welcome to July, the afternoon high near 62, the patchy fog chance continues each night, lows near 50.
It looks like we see a pattern change starting Friday that returns us back to summer, with a ridge of high pressure building in, that brings us mostly sunny skies Friday afternoon with the high up near 65, then mostly clear skies Friday night, the low near 49.
Good news for July 4th, Saturday looks mostly sunny with the highs up near 69, then a partly cloudy night for all the fireworks, lows near 52.
Sunday, we see more mid and high clouds moving across associated with a weak upper level trough moving in, highs near 69, lows near 50.
