OBITUARY: Anita Maria Hanakahi – June 5, 1953 – August 25, 2026

Posted on August 27, 2026August 27, 2026 by Editor

Anita Maria Hanakahi was born to Maceo and Yaeko Bustamante June 5th, 1953, and she passed into the arms of Jesus August 25th, 2026, surrounded by loved ones.

She was a God-fearing woman who loved the Lord and loved people. She never knew a stranger; everyone she met quickly became a friend. She had a special way of making people feel loved, welcomed, and valued.

For more than 45 years, Anita and her loving husband, Sterling, shared a life of faith and ministry, serving the Lord together and reaching out to people with the love of Christ. Over the years, they opened their hearts and their lives to countless people, encouraging them, praying for them, and pointing them to Jesus. She wanted everyone to know that Jesus loves them and that He has a plan and purpose for their life. Her life was a testimony of faith, compassion, and love for her Savior and for others.

Her favorite Scripture, Romans 8:38–39, which reminds us that “nothing shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” This was the hope she wanted everyone to know—that nothing in this life or the next can separate us from the love of God.

Sterling, Anita’s husband, proceeded her in death in early spring. She was looking forward to being with him again, in Eternity.

Anita will be deeply missed by her family, friends, and all who were blessed to know her. Her faith, her love for people, and the many lives she touched throughout her years of ministry will remain a beautiful and lasting legacy.
