Most of us on the North Coast believe in the democratic process. We try to be well informed (no easy task these days!) and communicate with our elected officials about issues important to us and to our community.
Over the past several years I have occasionally communicated by email with Cyrus Javadi, our State Representative. Each time, he personally responded with a courteous, well reasoned explanation for his position. It is clear from his response that he carefully considered my message. Although we have not always agreed 100% on a topic, we have been able to find common ground.
I have had several opportunities to meet with Representative Javadi at community events this year. I have found him to be intelligent, respectful, compassionate, and willing to address tough local and statewide questions. He voted in the House to provide a larger portion of Short Term Rental tax to the areas hosting the rentals, to provide financial support to Planned Parenthood (for cancer screenings, contraception access, and general reproductive health care), to promote funding of critical road maintenance needs, and to protect the First Amendment rights of people different from ourselves. It is clear to me that he will continue to work hard to address the needs of our community and to protect individual rights.
As a healthcare professional, he uniquely understands the importance of affordable and available health care. As someone who has frequently commuted from the coast, he recognizes the need to have our highways and bridges maintained for the safety of our residents and visitors. Please join me in voting to re-elect Representative Javadi to ensure that our voices and concerns continue to be heard in Salem.
Respectfully,
Sandy Johnson
