An Ode to Love

Posted on October 28, 2018 by Editor

By LaNicia Williams

Just as a bird knows how to fly
Just as a spider knows why to spin a web
Just as the elk knows how to travel in a herd
How is it so hard for us to know how to love?

Just as a caterpillar purposefully morphs into a butterfly
Just as a snake knows when to shed its skin
Just as the sun knows how to shine
How is it so hard for us to know how to love?

Just as winter turns into spring
Just as the rain gives us a well to drink from
Just as the earth continues to rotate
How is it so hard for us to know how to love?

Just as a mother’s body knows when to give birth
Just as a baby knows when to cry
Just as we see humanity falling around us
How is it so hard for us to know how to love?
