(SEASIDE, Ore. – Oct. 27, 2023) Seaside Police received an emergency 911 call at 12:20 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 27 from a victim who reported an assault and vehicle theft in Seaside. While officers responded to the scene at the 100 block of Ninth Ave., a Cannon Beach officer made visual contact with the victim’s vehicle south of Seaside and an initial pursuit occurred when the driver refused to stop. The pursuit was discontinued after the officer lost sight of the vehicle eastbound on Highway 26 at high speeds.

A Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy reestablished sight of the vehicle near the intersection of Highway 47 and attempted pursuit. The suspect’s vehicle was traveling at speeds in excess of 100 miles per hour coming into the county. The suspect’s vehicle turned southbound on NW Glencoe Road and crashed, becoming airborne briefly, at the intersection with NE Shannon St. The suspect then fled on foot.

Officers from the Beaverton Police Department, Hillsboro Police Department, and Tigard Police Department joined Washington County on this incident to assist. Three dog teams and two drone teams were utilized in the search. The suspect has not been located at this time.

The victim was transported to Columbia Memorial Hospital in Astoria and remains there in critical condition. The victim’s vehicle was seized and towed to an evidence bay.

The suspect has not yet been identified. Please call Seaside Detective Michael Crowe at (503) 738-6311 if you have any information.
