The last Full Moon of the year arrives in Cancer at Sunset (4:32pm PST) on today, December 26th. This Moon has gentle aspects to it that help cushion us from the harshness of the year gone by. It’s like a warm hug from Ms. Santa with cookies afterwards.
The years just seem to whoosh by no matter how hard to try to slow them down. This year is almost gone but the Full Moon comes to grant us a wish. It is a gift of compassion and forgiveness.
The asteroid Vesta which is the largest asteroid in our Solar System will be rising with the Moon on our horizon and gracing this Moon with her loving presence. Vesta is the Goddess of the hearth, internal fire and of sustenance. Where she is placed in your personal chart, is where you tend your internal flame and how you commit to your life. She also represents each of our “this little light of mine, I’m gonna let it shine.”
With her rising with the Moon on the Full Moon, she will be giving us the blessing of positivity and what we want to be devoted to. Allow her blessing to stimulate creativity and where you want to shine your light without reservations. Be inspired.
Jupiter is also trining the Sun and winking (sextile) at the Moon, which are easy, harmonious aspects from the jolly juggernaut that wraps you up in coziness and helps you remember all the good things that happened in 2023. We have so much to be grateful for if we look at the past year through the lens of Jupiter!
Mercury is still retrograde till New Year’s Day, which echoes all of the above energy. It is a time to slow down and reflect on how much truly blessed we are. Slowing down also shifts our perceptions of things. I was reminded of this when I went grocery shopping recently with an elder woman that I help out. She can’t walk very fast so we ambled about the store at a snail’s pace. I was truly amazed at all the things I saw that I normally do not. It was truly a Mercury retrograde moment in all the good ways.
The Full Moon might accentuate the Mercury in retrograde as well. Suddenly many things that have needed your attention but you’ve been going too fast to see, will pop up. It might also accentuate your feelings since it is a Cancer feeling Moon.
I know things can feel dark this time of year in the Northern Hemisphere, but I invite you to see the magic in it. See it as a time to renew, restore and do things that you’ve been craving to do with a little extra time on your hands after the holiday dust settles. This time of year is the wolves’ favorite as they feast in the winter. This Moon can help you shift your perceptions to see it as a fruitful time as well.
Focus on rest, magic and creativity and this Full Moon will be there to bring a sparkle to your efforts.
