ASTROLOGY: New Moon in Aries, Total Solar Eclipse Today, 4/19/23, 9:12pm PDT – Be your own hero

Posted on April 19, 2023 by Editor

By Madame Dana Zia

This is the second New Moon in Aries this year and it’s a doozy! The first one was when The Sun had barely dipped into Aries on March 21st and now the second one is when the Sun is literally hours from moving into Taurus at 29.50 degrees. (There are only 30 degrees in each Zodiac sign.) The Solar System is drawing attention to Aries this year! So let’s unpack Aries…..
Aries is the sign of passion, the pulse of life and the thrill of being alive. Aries is courageous, lives from the heart, and laughs out loud. They are a householder sign that is committed to the protection of the small and defenseless.
The way to move forward in Aries is through committed action to a noble and worthy cause. Through choosing a meaningful project or cause, you can elevate yourself. With two new Moons happening in Aries with the last one a Solar Eclipse, there is a lot of energy focused on what important project can you commit yourself to.

This New Moon is also square the planet Pluto and in an Eclipse, which influences this Moon deeply.
Eclipses reveal to us what we’ve had hidden in the shadows.
The etymology of the word Eclipse is “to abandon” or to “leave a usual place”. During an Eclipse, we are shown what comfortable thing we need to surrender in order to evolve, especially with Pluto involved because he requires surrender.

So with this Moon energy, what we have been keeping in the shadows, reveals itself and requires us to let go of the (imagined) control over it. This is being called forth in order to bring the next level of transformation towards being connected with Aries energy like instinct, courage, and action. Whatever is clouding that connection must be cleared.

Mercury (the planet of communication and thought) is also involved in this New Moon as he is stationing to go retrograde on April 21st in the grounded sign of Taurus. I’ve already been feeling the glitchiness of this!

Communications slow down when Mercury is in Taurus anyways because the focus of Taurus is on earthy things like flowers, bees, food and love. With Mercury going retrograde there the next 3 weeks, the lightning fast digital world loses its glamor. Perfect timing as we have a burgeoning spring ready for us to explore without our phones in our faces! Be mindful of where you want to put your attention.

To wrap this up, focus the next few days on what vitalizes you. What makes you feel alive and stimulated? What is a noble cause worth fighting for? Draw on the creative energy of this powerful Aries season coming to a close and chose what sort of hero you’d like to be in your story.
