New Moon in Leo the Lion arrives with gusto on August 18th at 7:41 pm. As I’m sure you all know, a New Moon occurs when the Moon is located between the Sun and the Earth. This means that a New Moon is always always in the same sign as the Sun. So when a New Moon occurs it a like a double shot of espresso in that sign and you really FEEL IT! This New Moon in the powerful and radiant sign of Leo is no exception.
The sign of Leo is one of the greatly misunderstood signs in the zodiac, in my opinion. Ask any Leo and they’ll tell you a dozen shadow aspects that they are commonly told about, but rarely are they told all the fabulous things about being Leo. And let me tell you, there are LOTS of fabulous things about Leo!

Leo is ruled by our glorious sun and therefore the Leo job is to shine like the sun. The only job a Leo really has to do is show up. Now that is easier said than done as showing up means really loving yourself 100% for who you are, no matter what. No easy task! Your intent for this life is to discover great self-confidence and love so that you may shine that upon others. You and your circle will grow and glow within your light. The trick to this is deepening your connection with Spirit so that you realize that you are not your mortal coil but perfect pure energy like the sun. Leo’s are put on this Earth to lead the rest of us towards self-care.
Leos are experts at being playful and light hearted. They are so very generous of spirit and have hearts as big as the all outdoors. In these dark times, we need to embrace that playful spirit this New Moon contains and have some fun! I’m not talking about go to a bar and risk your life fun, but more childlike fun that makes you giggle.

This New Moon in Leo is joined by Mercury, which is the planet that represents your mind and how you communicate. With the Sun, Moon and Mercury all lined up in Leo, trine (a flowing harmonious aspect) Mars and the North Node, this New Moon is an excellent time to boldly go forth and create an action plan to shine up your life for a better future. In these trying times, we are all being forced to take a look at so many shadows, globally, nationally and personally. This New Moon is offering a ray of light to penetrate those shadows and guide us towards the light in ourselves that is never extinguished.
Take this powerful and hopeful New Moon to get playful and have fun envisioning what your life would look like if you really were committed to self-care. It is definitely a learned behavior for me and the more I do it the more I LOVE IT! And the more I love it the more love I have to give to others.
What could you commit to until the next New Moon in Virgo on September 17, that is radical self-care? I mean something that is playful, gentle and completely doable? This is the perfect energy to hatch this plan and follow through. What do you have to lose but more happiness?
