ASTROLOGY: New Moon in Taurus – Be Still

Posted on May 16, 2026 by Editor

By Madame Dana Zia

The New Moon in Taurus arrives at midday on May 16th, nap-time for the Taurus bull. Imagine a pastoral meadow, it’s springtime where the flowers and green grass are abundant. There in the middle of the meadow lay a herd of cows, quietly chewing their cud among the wildflowers. All is quiet, except the buzzing of bees and swishing of tails. All is at peace till a bee stings a bull. (Think Ferdinand the Bull)

This is the New Moon in Taurus this year. It is asking us to take a pause and be still but mind the bees. Suspend judgment or the To Do List, and sit quietly in nature to feel the rhythm of the Earth in the springtime. There is honestly no better time to do it!

Life has been at a crescendo these last few months. All the planets that gathered in Aries during March/April were incredibly intense. I saw many of my clients/friends just freeze with their nervous systems overloaded with all the energy and news bombarding us. Slowly, that energy has been dispersing, and now we are at the end of Taurus season where things are beginning to calm down a bit.

We’ve all earned some downtime. We all need some quiet time and spaciousness.

This Moon is not without its tension as there is still an important alignment going on in Aries. (It’s not done with us yet!)  Mars the planet of action is conjunct Chiron, the asteroid of the wounded healer. Old wounds that are karmic might rise to the surface during this New Moon.

These are old wounds that require some action to make peace with. That action is being still and resting until you know what to do. Do not deny the wound or bury it in chocolate,  just sit with it. You will know when and where to act after this Moon.

Also Mercury and Uranus are conjunct the New Moon, with later being in Gemini. Mercury (the planet of communication and thinking) in Taurus is a very different energy. It is a quieter energy that wants to be still, observe and chew on a straw. Mercury is about to move into Gemini where it is VERY active and conjunct Uranus, so this is the important pause before that.

Uranus the planet of upheaval and change, has just moved into Gemini for the next 7 years, where it will be very focused on remodeling this sign. During this time, the energy favors the curious and inventive. So get ready to fly your freak flag during Gemini Season which begins on May 21st.

But meanwhile…. Be still and enjoy some peace and quiet. Do it with no guilt, light on the indulgences and be respectful of the bees.
