Balance. This is something we all seek. From September 22nd through October 22nd while the Sun is in Libra, it is a very good time to focus on it. Fall equinox, which happened on September 22nd, is the perfect balance of light and dark. There are exactly 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark on both spring and fall equinox. Fall equinox is the balance point before the dark begins to grow towards the darkest day of the year, December 21st, Winter Solstice.
Consequently, when the Sun is in Libra, it is time to balance our light with the growing darkness. The constellation that represents Libra is the scales and so that also is the essence of Libra. Libra is a time to focus on taking action around principals of fairness, justice and equality. Matters of law, peace and social interactions are governed by this fair sign that is ruled by Venus. The planet Venus is all about what we value such as love, beauty, relationships, peace, grace, and earthly pleasures. With those influences, Libra desires balance and peace. To get that however, one must first work on balance and peace in oneself.
This is a time to take stock of what is out of balance in yourself and life then set a course of action to bring it back into balance. As we gather and winterize for the dark season, it is also a time to plan winterization internally, in our relationships and life. How’s your body feel? Need to start a yoga practice, exercise more or go see a doctor about that nagging pain in your chest? Or how about your finances? Do you need to create a balance sheet and budget for the upcoming year? This is a very opportune time to attend to loose ends that are dangling to re-center the web of life.
Libra is also a very social sign that loves to interact with others. It is all about relationships, harmony and being connected. So this is also a good time to take stock of your relationships and where you need to tune those up. Do you need to spend more time with your spouse and build the relationship up? Perhaps it is time to get a project going with them that will breathe new life into the bond and shine up the spark that has faded. Or perhaps it is time to let go a relationship that is dead and lifeless and being clung to out of fear?
Time to balance your life and love. During Libra the energy is flowing that way and will weigh in your favor. (pun intended)
