On September 13, 2024, at approximately 12:05 PM, the Tillamook County Emergency Communications District (Tillamook 911) received an alert from an alarm company regarding an active bank robbery at the Wells Fargo Bank located in Tillamook.  The Tillamook Police Department, along with assistance from the Oregon State Police and the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office, responded immediately to the scene.

Upon arrival, officers arrested Philip L. Rees, a houseless individual and non-resident of Tillamook County, for the attempted bank robbery.  Thankfully, no one was injured during the incident.  The suspect is now in custody at the Tillamook County Jail and the investigation is ongoing.

If you were in the vicinity of Wells Fargo at the time of the incident, please contact the Tillamook Police Department and reference case # 24-6417.

The Tillamook Police Department extends its gratitude to Tillamook 911, Adventist Health Ambulance, Oregon State Police and the Tillamook County Sheriff’s Office for their prompt and professional support during this operation.

As always, the safety of our community is our top priority, and we will continue to work diligently to ensure that Tillamook remains a safe place for all its residents and visitors.

For further information, please contact Sgt. Harrell with the Tillamook Police Department at 503-842-2522.

Thank you for your continued support of your Police Department.  Stay safe and alert.
