A welcome stop in south Tillamook County, right off Highway 101, sits Bear Creek Artichokes, a farm several decades in the making. A staple store and café for locals, it offers something for everyone, from garden enthusiasts to culinary aficionados.
The landscape, animated by daily musical accompaniments, including live performances, is a fairy-tale garden where bumblebees dance among the Hollyhock and petunias, and lush Coral Bells, ferns, zinnias, and artichokes flourish.
Bear Creek Artichokes is more than a farm; it’s an invitation to explore fresh produce, distinctive culinary treasures, and captivating garden landscapes.
With its ethereal tranquility and boutique offerings, it mirrors the singular charm and beauty of Tillamook County, beckoning exploration, relaxation, and discovery amidst nature’s lavish bounty.
Inside, even the rain cannot dampen the magic. A boutique filled with exquisite clothing and one-of-a-kind gifts promises a delightful shopping escapade.
The current owner, Celia Hung, has expanded the decades-long endeavors of former owner Cindy Miles, and crafted Bear Creek Artichokes into a beloved destination with the nursery, café, gift shop, and artichoke farm, offering fabulous culinary delights.
During my visit, I savored a cherry scone, fluffy and not too sweet, and a steaming americano. The menu tempted with savory zucchini parm, turkey bagel sandwiches, burritos, and potato salad—all very good. And for dessert? Carrot cake, or perhaps a banana cream breve or watermelon Italian soda. The warm hospitality and scrupulous care by all the staff has marked this as a must-stop destination.
Visitors consistently laud the fresh produce, amicable staff, and unique offerings. Shopping for fresh artichokes (seasonal) and other specialty items from the farm store is a highlight.
Whether seeking a serene retreat or a memorable culinary experience, Bear Creek Artichokes resonates with the very essence of agricultural Oregon, standing as a must-visit attraction in the midst of nature’s bounty.
