Rockaway Beach Fire & Rescue is proud to announce that we have once again been awarded the Wildfire Season Staffing Grant from the Oregon State Fire Marshal’s Office.
This critical funding allows us to increase on-duty staffing during the busy summer months, when our population grows and wildfire risk is at its highest.
Why this matters:
During wildfire season, our region faces elevated fire danger while also welcoming an influx of visitors enjoying the coast. This combination significantly increases demand for emergency services—from wildfire response and prevention to medical calls and structure fires.
This grant helps us:
• Staff additional firefighters each day
• Improve emergency response times
• Strengthen wildfire preparedness and response
• Provide rapid wildfire response for our neighbors throughout Tillamook County
• Provide conflagration support should our county be deployed to assist throughout the region
• Enhance firefighter and community safety
• Ensure reliable coverage during peak demand
Without this support, maintaining adequate staffing during wildfire season would be a significant challenge. This grant helps us continue delivering the high level of service our community and visitors expect and deserve.
