BUTCH’S BLOG: A Reflection of Himself

Posted on June 23, 2026 by Butch Freedman

By Butch Freedman

The latest fiasco

It never ends with this guy. But the latest outrage climbs to the top. It’s not as consequential as his failed wars, or the incredible level of corruption, or even his mostly failed attempts to assault his perceived enemies. But it’s one that is a symbol of all that’s gone wrong under the little dictator, all the human failings he daily demonstrates—the lying, the cheating, the blaming of others for his incompetence. Let’s not forget the vast egotism, and the willingness to reward his supporters, who are almost as corrupt as the crumbling, fumbling, washed-up, criminal himself. I’m talking, of course, about the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool and trump’s mishandling of yet another of his insane vanity projects. The ones that cost American citizens billions of dollars in tax money.

Somewhere in that fevered brain of his he decided that the reflecting pool was not adequately gaudy, and proceeded to hire, on a no-bid contract, one of his Mar-a-Lago cronies to do the job, a company whose main experience was in painting swimming pools. The cost—14 million plus. The result: a totally botched job. The water in the pool turned green almost immediately after completion, due to preventable algae blooms. The brain damaged prez had ordered the bottom of the pool to be “All American” blue. Turns out this is not a wise choice for a reflecting surface that gets hot in the summer. And, surprise, that blue paint quickly began to peel and rise in chunks to the surface, much to the embarrassment of little Caesar, who, of course, is physically and mentally incapable of EVER admitting to a mistake. Instead, trumpie declares that the damage must be the work of vandals. Antifa! he screams. No way he has mis-stepped. It can’t be that the millions have been given to yet another scammer.

The answer to the problem? After pouring hundreds of gallons of hydrogen peroxide into the pool, which only further exacerbated the problem and killed some ducks, he orders the National Guard and police on horseback to patrol the pool night and day searching for these mysterious water-vandals. They even arrest an Olympic medalist for daring to reach into the water to look at one of the floating pieces of debris. They keep the Olympian in jail for half a day without a phone call. The flabby emperor-with-no-clothes then declares to the press, without a shred of evidence, that these imagined bad guys had somehow slipped into the national pool and cut a 350-foot long gash in the bottom. Clearly an absurdity, but what’s one more bizarre lie, when all the assembled sycophants and assembled flunkies just smile and go along. They appear to love his angry bravado. Weird! The same day he spends even more taxpayer funds to erect camera towers to monitor all activity around the pool and warns tourists that they can be arrested at any moment if they look cross-wise at his disaster. Now all the water must be drained from the pool and the work done over at who knows what additional cost.

That’s our fearless leader— a criminal, a liar, and a bully. His reflecting pool now only reflects his vast incompetence and moral rot. Billion-dollar ballroom anybody?
