I’d wager even his base knows who the above headline refers to. The man is completely out of control. Snapping out endless lies in a vain attempt to cover his missteps. Today’s Untruth Social hit a new low (which is extremely hard to do) when he attacked Pope Leo, and among other vile lies, claimed to be responsible for the Pope’s election. What does the religious right think of all that?
The whole mess would be laughable if this moron was not the person with access to dropping a nuclear bomb. Such an event is not out of the question when you look at his statement about being ready to “wipe out an entire civilization.” And not out of the question when the see-no-evil cowardly republican congress refuses to face the truth of his indecency and mental collapse. Did they not see the A.I. image he admitted to posting that shows him as Jesus healing the sick, and military angels rising in the background? Does that not frighten them, or at least make clear that their own elections are surely at stake? When asked to comment on the obscene rendering, trump said that, as always, he was being misunderstood by the “fake news” and that in the meme he is portrayed, not as Jesus, but as a doctor. Take a look if you haven’t seen this blasphemous portrayal. Anybody see a doctor? If you do, go see one.
I wish I could claim that his reign is soon coming to an end, blown apart by his ridiculous war, and a cratering economy. Unfortunately our political system doesn’t work that way. Since the president has surrounded himself with a weak and pandering cabinet, there’s no way they will invoke the 25th amendment to remove him. That amendment was put in place long ago to address the exact situation the country is now in with a president incapable of behaving rationally. Impeachment is also not currently an option, though perhaps if there is a complete mid-term tsunami, that could come into play. I’m afraid though, we may have to find some other way to deal with trump’s remaining 2 1/2 years, while watching his mental state decline more each day. What damage will he still be able to do? What carnage will he wreak?
One recent hopeful note that may well reflect on our own situation is the recent thorough defeat of the dictator Viktor Orban in Hungary. Finally his people could stand his authoritarian and corrupt rule no longer. Even the appearance of the weaselly J.D. Vance couldn’t save him. In fact, trump’s errand boy probably cost Orban votes. The Hungarian people were overjoyed, set free, danced in the streets. Once again, a free and democratic country. I believe it could happen here. I only wish our elections came sooner. Given the state of our country’s mood, the orange man-child would be quickly disposed of, like the trash that he is. We too would dance in the streets. It will happen. The only question is how much damage we here in the U.S., and the rest of the world, will have to endure. Certainly, Pope Leo will keep speaking the truth. He’s not frightened by the crassness and evil of the president.
