First “AquaTour” at North County Recreation District’s Aquatics Center Construction Site March 12th; Monthly Opportunities for Community to View Construction Progress

Posted on March 23, 2024 by Editor

(Nehalem, OR – March 12, 2024) – A sense of excitement filled the air as the North County Recreation District (NCRD) welcomed a select group of individuals for its inaugural AquaTour on March 12th. The tour provided an exclusive opportunity for community members to witness the progress of the NCRD Aquatics Facility construction, a project anticipated to bring numerous benefits to the region.

Led by a knowledgeable guide from Par-Tech Construction, NCRD’s contractor, participants donned hard hats and vests before venturing into the bustling construction site. Russell, representing Par-Tech, shared insights into the innovative technologies and sustainable design elements incorporated into the facility.

The AquaTour allows our community to see firsthand the positive impact the Aquatics Facility will have, emphasizing the importance of community engagement in the project.

The tour agenda included a safety overview and the distribution of safety gear, followed by a guided exploration of key areas within the construction site. Participants engaged in a lively Q&A session with Russell, gaining insights into the project’s goals and benefits for the community.

The 60-minute tour was an enlightening opportunity for the public to learn more about the energy and water-saving features of the new facility. Even NCRD Aquatics Director Sue Dindia-Gray who knows the project back and front was inspired. This monthly tour is a great way for our community to see how NCRD is investing in sustainability.

Indeed, the Aquatics Facility aims not only to provide recreational opportunities but also to promote environmental stewardship. With features such as energy-efficient lighting and water-saving fixtures, the facility is poised to reduce its environmental footprint while serving the community’s needs.

In addition to the excitement surrounding the construction progress, attendees of the AquaTour were particularly intrigued by the warm-water zero-entry therapy pool, a feature designed to cater to the diverse needs of the community. This specialized pool, adjacent to the new 6-lane pool, will serve as a vital resource for therapeutic benefits, welcoming both local residents and visitors alike.

For those who missed the first tour, another opportunity awaits on April 9th to join the AquaTour and witness the progress firsthand.
