Well, after getting everyone excited about the weekend’s weather, I thought I would offer y’all an update. First, we did have a weak front move over today that continues to give us some winds gusting to near 25 tonight behind the front, along with some partly cloudy skies, with maybe a sprinkle or two through around midnight, then conditions continue to improve with maybe some patchy fog in the early morning hours after the winds diminish. There may be some areas with frost, the low temperature tonight near 38.
Conditions continue to slowly improve tomorrow with the winds becoming northwesterly 4-8, the high only near 57. Look for some fog and frost overnight tomorrow with the calm winds, and the temperature dips to near 35.
The models are still mixed on the weekend system. The questions continue to be, will a low develop on the incoming trough and if it does, how close to the coast will it come. The consensus is currently that it will remain far enough offshore to decrease the impacts we were previously seeing. This is still not written in stone and could change, but for now, we think we will see cloudy skies with a 40 to 50% chance of rain later Saturday night, starting around midnight, the temperature on Saturday, highs near 59, lows near 39.
Some rain is possible Sunday with a chance still Sunday night as additional bands of rain move across the area, then the rain chance eases later that night, highs near 60, lows that night near 40.
As for next week, there is still a decreasing chance of rain Monday with only a slight chance that night that extends into Tuesday and Wednesday, as the system may oscillate near the area. Highs next week in the upper 50s to low 60s, lows stay in the upper 30s.
Currently there is a Frost Advisory for tomorrow night into Saturday morning for the area and a Freeze Watch for the Coast Range for the same period. There are also concerns about hazardous seas, especially for small craft through Friday morning so there is a Hazardous Seas Warning from 8pm this evening through 8am Friday. The offshore conditions will also be causing an increasing threat of sneaker wave along the coast over the next few days.
