GORDON’S WEEKLY WEATHER UPDATE 5/4/26: Onshore flow returned to help cool things down after yesterday’s high 82; Next shot of rain, a slight chanceon Friday

Posted on May 4, 2026 by Editor

Well yesterday was real nice, the highs in town climbed to around 82 at the airport, 79 in the North Main area, thanks to a low pressure area down over California giving us a weak offshore flow. That low has pushed off to the east and the building high pressure ridge let the onshore flow return helping to cool things down once again, so the afternoon high today returned to the mid 60s. With the ridge still dominating our weather tonight, we can expect the clouds return, along with some patchy early morning fog, the low tonight down near 50. There is a chance we could see some mist in the early morning hours with the thickening marine clouds.

The ridge shifts eastward tomorrow, and the fog burns off midmorning. With clearing skies, tomorrow afternoon looks mostly sunny with light winds, the high near 64, the patchy fog likely returns tomorrow night, along with some marine clouds, the low near 47.

Wednesday looks to be another mostly sunny day after the fog and clouds burn off, the high near 64, another mostly cloudy night with the lows near 44.

By Thursday it looks like a disturbance crossing to the north will flatten the ridge, but all we will see from this is some increasing cloudiness, so looks for partly sunny skies Thursday, the high near 63, the low near 45.

Friday the models show an approaching trough of low pressure that will bring us mostly cloudy skies that day with a slight chance of rain starting that night which persists into Saturday, afternoon high temperatures remain in the low 60s, overnight lows the mid 40s both days.

It looks like another ridge will bring clear skies and warmer temperatures for Sunday and Monday, so with mostly sunny skies we could see afternoon high temperatures up near 70.

And here is an important reminder for everyone, this coming Sunday is Mother’s Day.
