Well, I’ve had several people ask me when summer was going to get here… After this week, some will say, here it is! The big picture for this week is, it looks like the ridge over the Great Plains will build to the west enough to bring warming temperatures to the region for the start of this week. While an upper level low pressure area drops down off the Canadian coast to the west of Oregon, where it meanders and helps to rotate some moisture up over the region midweek. It looks like after that we see fair, dry and mild conditions returning to the coast.
So, a sunny day today after the clouds and fog burned off early, we saw temperatures push up to near 70. The patchy fog returns tonight, under the mostly clear skies, with calm winds, the overnight low down near 48.
Sunny skies return early again tomorrow with the winds becoming northwesterly 5-10, the high again up near 70, then another partly cloudy night, with the patchy fog returning around midnight with the calm winds, the low near 51.
Little change is expected for Wednesday, with the fog clearing relatively early, we see mostly sunny skies, but some clouds do start to move in, winds becoming northwesterly 4-8, the high near 68. We expect some increasing clouds Wednesday night, along with a slight chance of rain by around midnight, the low near 52.
It looks like we see the best chance of rain Thursday morning, maybe some patchy morning fog through around midmorning, the high near 67, then the partly cloudy skies return Thursday night, the low near 53.
The mostly sunny skies slowly return Friday, the high near 69, then Saturday and Sunday look mostly sunny with the highs into the low 70s, and with mostly clear nights, the lows only drop to the mid 50s.
And just a heads up is you have to go over into the valley this week, it looks like they are looking at temperatures topping out at around 90 this week, then up into the mid 90s for the weekend with a slight chance of them hitting the upper 90s.
The last thing I will mention, as we head into the middle of July is, so far, we have only had 0.01” of rain this month, with the average being around 1 1/3”, so keep your fingers crossed that the system midweek does bring in some rain!
