Governor Brown Announces Marketplace Conferences on Oregon Coast

Posted on October 10, 2017April 3, 2020 by Editor

(Salem, OR) — Governor Kate Brown today announced two Governor’s Marketplace Conferences to be held on the north and south coasts on Oct. 11 and 12. The conferences will connect Oregon’s small businesses with contracting opportunities with state agencies, federal government agencies, and non-profit organizations. Small businesses in each region are encouraged to participate. Register here.

“It’s a priority for me to create jobs in every corner of the state,” Governor Brown said. “My office is working to foster a vibrant entrepreneurial ecosystem that supports ongoing small business growth and job creation. It is also critically important to create equal access and opportunity for our growing minority, women, and service-disabled veteran-owned emerging small businesses.”

Oregon spends billions of dollars annually on goods and services, and these dollars create economic opportunities for local businesses while enhancing sustainability in our communities. The Governor’s Marketplace Conference will provide local small businesses with information on additional resources, and funding sources available to them through government contracting opportunities.

Small businesses are the backbone of the U.S. economy, employing nearly half the workforce and accounting for more than 60 percent of the private sector’s net new jobs. Every day in Oregon, small business owners apply their extraordinary potential to spark competition, drive innovation, and build communities.
