I’ve really tried to be chill and calm, in spite of everything.
Alan Watts tells me, “No amount of anxiety makes any difference to anything that is going to happen.”
And yet the outrage seeps into my mind and threatens to consume me.
The latest thing that has me riled is being deprived of blue-sky for more than a week. I lost blue-sky because of prevailing winds that carried the smoke from raging Oregon/Washington wildfires to our coast.
The blue-sky has returned. but only because of an onshore wind. I’m angered because we’re ignoring the climate change that is the root cause of the fires that afflict us. While the West is burning up, our grifter-in-charge is spending billions to divert money intended for wind power projects back in fossil-fuel investments.
I can’t wrap my mind around how the headline,”Trump Administration to Pay German Firm $1.2 Billion to Cancel Wind Leases”, followed by the small print explanation of fossil fuel investment instead, doesn’t spark outrage.
I cannot shake the feeling we are sleepwalking into an era of Chinese dominance. While we chase the dollars of fossil fuel, China asserts its dominance in solar and wind energy. We are squandering the future our children should enjoy.
