Dear Friends,
Many emotions going through the minds of the people at the North County Resistance Peaceful Protest on Saturday October 31st. Nearly 40 people showed up. Thinking about the midterm election, no one had anything the least bit nice to say about Trump. No one there placed any faith or trust in him. That said, few people placed much faith in anybody in Washington, D.C., no matter what party they belong to. And why is that? Just what is going to change after the election?
What is most frightening is what will Trump do after the election. None of us can read what the future might be. Stopping the war with Iran and starting negotiations to bring some peace to this area would be good. Telling Putin to back off with his war with Ukraine. Both of these leaders do whatever they want. Both Trump and Putin have somehow taken control over the top branches of their governments, somehow creating fear by intimidation and no one is stopping them. You ask, who should be stopping them? How about our elected officials? The people we are voting for in this midterm. On January 3, 2027, all house members and one-third Senate members will take an oath of office. Are these people going to continue to kowtow to Trump, or are they going to fight for the people who elected them? The majority of the people in the North County Resistance Group feel we must continue to pressure our government to do right by American citizens. We must take the absolutely sickening amount of money out of political races. We need to take care of people who want a roof over their head and food to eat. We want healthcare that doesn’t break individual’s savings. We want Canada to be our friend, not our enemy. We don’t want taxpayer money spent on political campaigns.
A big want by many people on January 3rd is for Trump just to accept the election and for Congress to get on with making our country a country that many in the world would want to have, again. Many in the North County Resistance fear if we don’t keep up some form of protest that compliancy by so many of us will take place again. The form of the protest was discussed and there were a variety of recommendations. Showing up through thick and thin is one option. Keeping an eye on elected officials and letting them know they are not doing the job they were elected to do is another. Standing up for Citizens harassed by ICE came up. Getting funding back to our food banks and homeless shelters, plus medical care has been a wish by several citizens. Many people say we need to keep up our presence in Nehalem until Trump is replaced. We want a Press we can trust to tell the truth. Yes, we need to move on as a country, but just exactly does this mean?
We, North County Resistance (NCR), are a solid group of between 30-50 people who have met up every Saturday for the past two years to protest the way Trump the King has been ruling our country. We know we have a lot more support from the community and the county from people who think the way we do but are not able to be with us. NCR wants to hear from citizens who support us and our peaceful protest. We want to be constructive in the coming days. At this past protest someone said about our group “Good Together” and the person next to them said “Better Together”. Please reply to my email to let me know what you are thinking. As we are never sure about our weather perhaps, we should consider meeting in an indoor area to research our next steps. And we should invite our newly elected officials to hear what they plan on doing in the coming months. Again, your thoughts and ideas are greatly appreciated. And you won’t be acknowledged by name unless you want to be.
Want to thank all the people in North County Resistance for your participation over the months. It is a real tribute to all in our community to show you care so much. You are the best!
