Allen “Warren” Hudspeth was born on February 27th, 1938 to Stewart and Harriett Hudspeth of Orange County, California. He & his older brother Calvin had the run of rural country life for most of their youth. Warren was an avid outdoor enthusiast who raised FFA sheep and joined his dad in desert exploration adventures.
Warren met the love of his life, Gail, when they were both young and they married in the spring of 1959.
At Calvin’s suggestion Warren and Gail moved their young family of 4 out of Southern California in 1965. The family landed in Shady Cove where they built a home and a life for themselves for the next several years.
A lifelong baseball fan, Warren coached little league and Babe Ruth baseball as the boys grew. He used to place crazy bets on World Series games and got his kids and grandkids in on some unlikely pranks related to the side bets.
He loved taking his family camping. Warren and the boys spent many years at their favorite hunting camp along Miller Creek near Chemult. He always looked forward to the time when his grandsons were big enough to join the hunting camp adventures.
He spent a long career working various jobs in the woods from setting chokers and fighting fire to buying logs and overseeing logging operations.
He enjoyed creating custom made cabinets and furniture in his home woodshop. He and Gail spent a great deal of time making the yard at their home into a sanctuary of beautiful flowers and a source of tasty vegetables.
When Warren retired along the banks of the scenic Nestucca River he and Gail had definitely found their happy place. After a short illness, he passed peacefully on August 5th, 2026.
